Gulfport, MS - Fittingly enough the location was Gulfport for the induction of former Carey head soccer coach Doug Stovall onto the soccer Wall of Fame. Stovall was the only 2010 inductee and the 13th overall.
Coach Stovall spent 17 years on the coast at the helm of William Carey College's men's soccer team before the program moved to the Hattiesburg campus. He ran up an impressive 219-89-10 record over that time. He also had a spell coaching both men and women and put up a 41-15-1 mark with the women. Coacjh Stovall began the program in 1985 and was the only men's coach until the appointment of current head coach Nigel Boulton in 2003. Boulton commented saying, "It is an honor for me to have followed Doug and the success he has had at Carey. He made this a winning program and a program of national renown. I may never better his record here but I will take pride in trying to maintain his competitive standard. I'm am pleased to see his name upon the Wall of Fame in my office". Coach Stovall accepted his award and spoke of his days at William Carey with fondness and much pride. He wished the team all the best for the future.
