Kansas City, MO- The post season accolades keep rolling for William Carey softball as three players were selected as NAIA All Americans. Representing the Lady Crusaders on the 2010 NAIA All American team is juniors Judy Barber, Jeana Erickson, and Tan Montgomery.

Barber, a former Petal High standout, had another monster season for head coach Wendy Hogue. Barber hit .418 with 23 homers, 21 doubles, and 92 RBI. Barber totaled 55 runs and slugged .892. This is Barber's second selection to the All American team. Last season she was honored as a first team All-American.
"I can't say enough about Judy Barber," said Lady Crusader head coach Wendy Hogue. "She was a 1st teamer last year and her numbers were even better this year. She is 2nd in the nation with 23 homeruns and 92 RBI's. She is just a phenomenal ball player that we are blessed to have here at William Carey"
Barber was also named to the 2010 NAIA National Tournament All Tournament Team and was selected as an NFCA All American last season.

Erickson, a former Biloxi High standout, was brilliant yet again for the Lady Crusaders. Erickson hit .394 with 10 home runs, 15 doubles, 7 triples, and 40 RBI's. This is Erickson first selection to the softball All-American Team. This past fall Erickson was named honorable mention on the women's soccer All American Team. Erickson has also been named an academic All-American for softball in 2009 and 2010 as well as women's soccer in 2008 and 2009.
"Jeana is very deserving of this honor," said Coach Hogue. "She is a great fielding shortstop that gets the job done in the four hole behind Judy. She is a true 5-tool player that we are fortunate to have on our team and is the true definition of an athlete having been named a soccer All American in the fall and now she has the same distinction in softball for the spring. "

Montgomery, a former Salem High standout, recovered from a slow start due to injury to enjoy perhaps one of her best years with the Lady Crusader's. Montgomery hit .412 in the lead off spot for WCU totaling 68 hits, including 2 home runs, 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 25 RBI. Despite missing seven games due injury, Montgomery led the Lady Crusaders with 57 runs scored.
"Tan broke her arm the day before our season started and after removing the cast she went 1 for her first 26. Since then she has really turned it on and finished the season at .418. There's no doubt in my mind that without the injury she would've been right at last year's numbers (.471 avg) which also won her the honor of being a 2nd team All American," said coach Hogue.
Montgomery was also named to the 2010 NAIA National Tournament All Tournament Team and was an NFCA All American last season.
William Carey finished the 2010 season with 45-15 record and a fourth place finish in the NAIA National Tournament. The 45 wins by the Lady Crusaders is a school record.
