Decatur, Ala.- Judy Barber's three run homer in the third inning was all the run support Anna Ard needed  as William Carey staved off elimination by knocking off GCAC rival Belhaven University, 3-2 Tuesday afternoon at the Wilson Morgan Sportsplex.

Belhaven scratched first getting an RBI single by Tiffany Ansley in the first inning. After that WCU starter Anna Ard was sensational in the circle for the Lady Crusaders. Ard struck out five and surrendered just four hits in a complete game effort. 

Barber's blast, her fourth of the tournament, put WCU 3-1 in the third inning. Belhaven pushed across a run in the sixth as Christina Jaques doubled to trim the lead to 3-2. In the seventh WCU committed an error to lead off hitter Heather Pace to put the tying run aboard but Ard and WCU was up the challenge. Ard got Rian O'Bannon to pop out, struck out Rachel Wright, and got Katie Sanders to line out to end the game.

WCU will take on No. 1 California Baptist in an elimination game at 7:30 pm tonight.
