Decatur, Alabama- Judy Barber homered in the first inning and Larke Nightengale belted a grand slam in the sixth inning as William Carey rolled past Union College, 12-3 in Pool E action at the 2010 NAIA National Tournament.

WCU opened Pool E action on Thursday with a 12-5 victory over Mount Mercy College. WCU and Union were schedule to play last night but heavy rains in the Decatur area postponed play on Day Two.

WCU showed no ill effects of the extra day off as Barber picked up where she left off on Thursday by belting her third homer of the tournament to put WCU up 2-0. Carey increased the lead to 4-0 in the third as Casey Alexander tripled to score Tan Montgomery and advanced home on a Union throwing error.

Union got back into the game with two runs on three hits in the fourth and had bases loaded with one out in the fifth but Anna Ard wiggled out of the jam. WCU iced the game away with an eight run sixth inning highlighted by Nightengale's Grand Slam. Union added one final run in the sixth for the final margin.

Montgomery led WCU at the plate going 3 for 4 with three runs scored. Casey Alexander and Shana Gunter each added two hits.

WCU will take on California State San Marcos on Monday at 2:00 pm. The winner between WCU and California San Marcos with advanced to bracket play. Double elimination bracket play will

begin at 9:00 pm on Monday night.

California San Marcos defeated Union (KY) 3-2 and Mount Mercy  (IA) 1-0. California San Marcos is 40-14 on the season and ranked fifth in the latest NAIA poll.
