Six Lady Crusaders Named All-GCAC
Hattiesburg, MS- William Carey softball placed six players on the 2010 GCAC All Conference team  as voted on by league coaches.
     
Juniors Anna Ard, Judy Barber, Jeana Erickson, Tan Montgomery, and Bree Neidhardt along with sophomore Casey Alexander have been selected.

 
Barber led WCU in average (.438), home runs (19), doubles (20), hits (74), RBI (80), and slugging percentage (.905).  The former Petal High standout played in and started all 53 games for the Lady Crusaders this season and sported an on base percentage of .492. This is Barber's second selection to the All GCAC team.
 
Erickson, a shortstop from Biloxi, Mississippi, is making her third straight appearance on the All-GCAC team. This season Erikson posted  career highs in average ( .401), runs (50), hits (63), stolen bases (16), slugging percentage (.732), doubles (14), triples (7), and home runs (8).
     
Neidhardt, a second baseman from Gretna, Louisiana, is also making her third appearance on the All-GCAC team.  Neidhardt posted career highs in home runs (9), doubles (15), slugging percentage (.627), and RBI (33).
     
Montgomery, an outfielder from Tylertown, Mississippi, hit .393 with 2 home runs, 2 doubles, 6 triples, and 25 RBI. This past week in the 2010 NAIA Unaffiliated Conference's Tournament went 9 for 10 with two home runs, a double, and 10 RBI as WCU clinched their third straight trip to the NAIA National Tournament.  This is Montgomery's second selection to the All-GCAC team.
     
Ard, a pitcher from Louisville, Mississippi, posted and 11-4 record in her first season with the Lady Crusaders. In 87 2/3 innings the junior right hander recorded 102 strike outs and limited opponents to a .176 batting average. Ard fired six complete games, including two shutouts, and posted a 1.84 ERA.
     
Alexander, an outfield from Liberty, Mississippi, had a breakout season in her sophomore campaign. Alexander hit .417 with 5 triples, 8 doubles, and 30 RBI for the Lady Crusaders.
     
WCU will return to action in the 2010 NAIA National Championship in Decatur, Alabama, on May 20-26.
