Gulf Shores, AL- No. 16 William Carey moved one game closer to the 2010 GCAC Championship as they defeated No. 5 Belhaven University, 11-3 Friday evening at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

Casey Alexander continued to swing a hot bat for WCU going 4 for 5 with a double, triple, and three RBI. Jeana Erickson added three hits, including a solo home run, three RBI and scored three runs. Tan Montgomery also posted a 3 for 3 mark in the contest..

Erickson got the runs started Carey with a two run single and then she would eventually steal home in a three run first inning. After a Lady Blazer run in the bottom of the first, WCU got two thanks to a two run triple by Casey Alexander.

With WCU up 6-3 in the top of the sixth, the Lady Crusaders plated four runs in the sixth to put the game away. Anna Ard picked up the win going 4 2/3 inning allowing four hits and three runs. Katie McCray pitched 2 1/3 innings for the save.

WCU and Belhaven will conclude the 2010 GCAC Tournament with the Championship Game scheduled to begin at 8:15.
