Perkinston, MS- William Carey University's golf team will continue to have a Bulldog feel to it as three Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College golfers have signed to play for the Crusaders in 2010. Currently William Carey has four former Bulldogs (Corey Ward, Stone Thames, Matt Hungerman, Brett Holmes) on its squad. Next season they add Brandon Herrington, Nic Ishee, and Michael Wilkinson to the list.
"Gulf Coast golf coach Tommy Snell goes a great job getting these guys prepared to play at the next level," said D.J. Pulley, William Carey Golf Coach. "They're already accomplished players by the time they get to Carey. This group of incoming signees will be ready to go as soon as they step on campus and make instant contributions to our team."
Herrington, a sophomore from Laurel, averaged 75.67 in eight MACJC events this season. He shot 70 at the Northeast Invitational Mar. 29 to earn Low Medalist honors and was also a member of the All-Tournament Team at the Co-Lin Invitational Mar. 8-9.
Ishee, also a sophomore from Laurel, averaged 75.88 this season and helped the Bulldogs win three of the five MACJC events this season.
Wilkinson, a sophomore from Gulfport, averaged 77.25 this season and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the MGCCC Spring Invitational Feb. 8-9.
