Magnolia, Ark- William Carey surrendered five runs in the second inning and could never recover as they fall to No. 5 Southern Arkansas, 6-2 Wednesday afternoon at Mulerider Field.
WCU started hot promptly loading the bases on a single (Steed ) and two walks (Smith & Casey) which allowed Chantse Edwards to rip a two run single to put Carey up 2-0. After that it was all Southern Arkansas. The Muleriders plated five runs in a disastrous second inning and SAU pitching allowed just one hit the rest of the games.
Kody James, who came on in relief of stater Logan Shaver, was stellar for the Crusaders. James hurled 6 2/3 inning allowing just one hit and one run.
WCU returns home to Milton Wheeler Field for a three game GCAC series against Loyola University. First pitch of the series is set for Friday at 6:00 pm.
