Katie McCrary- fired complete game shut in 7-0 win over Notre Dame

Mobile, AL- No. 6 William Carey takes three out of four in the 2010 UM Classic defeating Notre Dame College, Lindsey Wilson College, and Reinhardt College to improve to 10-3 on the season.

In game one, Katie McCrary fired a five hit shutout and Bree Neidhardt drove in five runs with a double and home run in a 7-0 Carey rout.

In game two, Lindsey Wilson took advantage of a Carey error in the third inning to open a 1-0 lead. The Lady Crusaders answered with Judy Barber home run and another run courtesy a LWC error to take a 2-1 lead. The one run lead was more than enough support as Anna Ard had another stellar outing for WCU. Ard fanned eleven batters and allowed just four hits in another complete game effort.

In game three on Sunday, Kelsey Jo Smith was brilliant in the circle working a four hit shutout in a 2-0 WCU win. Carey broke the scoring deadlock with two runs in the sixth.

In game four, Martin Methodist jumped all over WCU plating six runs over the first five innings and never looked back. Carey managed to trim the lead to 6-2 with two runs in the seventh but the rally fizzled.  Jeana Erickson and Missy Paulina each had two hits and Shana Gunter drove in both Carey runs with an RBI single in the seventh.

WCU is back in action this weekend as they look to defend their Gulf Coast Invitational title in Orange Beach, AL.
