Head Coach Steve Knight with former and current Crusader players
Hattiesburg, MS- Reigning GCAC player of the week Drew Meyerchick poured in a game high 29 points as William Carey completed a four game home stand by knocking off Xavier University (LA) 77-67, Saturday night at Clinton Gym.
          
In a back and forth first half the Crusaders worked their way to a 32-30 lead at the break.  In the second half Meyerchick poured in 16 second half points and the Crusaders went 24 for 26 at the foul line to pull away the Gold Rush.

 
   
Brandon Cooks added 14 points for the Crusaders. Marcus Spann and Terry Wade chipped in with 10 apiece.
     
Prior to tip-off head coach Steve Knight was presented with a commemorative plaque for his 500th career win back on February 4th.
     
Carey begins a three game road trip on Thursday as they take on the University of Mobile. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm at Pharr Gym.
