Shreveport, LA- Junior Jeana Erickson's goal in the 68th minute of play was all the scoring the Lady Crusaders could muster but it was enough as they knocked off LSU-Shreveport, 1-0 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play.
Carey and LSUS battled to a scoreless tie at the half as both teams played outstanding defense with each team attempting only four shots. In the second half the Lady Crusaders cranked up the intensity on offense as they blasted thirteen shots with eight on goal but only managed the Erickson goal.
LSUS made one last gasp at evening the score in the games final minutes but Carey keeper Jodan Morrison came up with a key save to preserve the victory.
With the win Carey improves to 10-2-1 on the season and 5-0 in GCAC play. Carey returns to action on Tuesday at home as they take on Belhaven College. Kick-off is set for 6:00 pm at the WCU Soccer Complex.
