Hattiesburg, MS- William Carey shot 59 % from the floor and never trailed as they avenge an early season loss by knocking off No. 20 Belhaven University, 98-88 Monday night at Clinton Gym.

Belhaven defeated the Crusaders 79-78 on a three pointer at the buzzer back on January 9th. 

 
In the first half the Crusaders methodically built their lead and led by as many as 10 points in the half. Leading by five to start the half Belhaven promptly tied the game at 46 with 17:04 to play. Carey answered with a 20-6 run to take control of the contest. The Crusaders lead never got smaller than seven points down the stretch.  Carey shot 75% from the floor in the second half.

Brandon Cooks led Carey with 26 points. Cory Smith finished with 23 points. Reigning GCAC player of the Week Drew Meyerchick finished with 14 points while Daniel Huggins added 12 points and Marcus Spann chipped in with 11 points.

Carey is back in action on Thursday as they take on No. 4 LSU-Shreveport.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm at Clinton Gym.
