Hattiesburg, MS- William Carey erased a 9 point defect with less than four minutes to go as they knock off Spring Hill College, 64-60 in GCAC action Saturday night at Clinton Gym.
        
The Lady Badgers led by as many as 9 points in the first half and held a 30-26 lead at the break. Carey took the lead twice in the opening ten minutes of the second half but by the time Lynleigh Hughes converted two free throws with 4:27 to play Spring Hill held a 59-50 lead.  Corissa Tillman's layup, Hope Swindle's back to back three point baskets, and Alisha Mason's pull up jumper evened the game for the Lady Crusaders with 42 seconds to play.
     
On the ensuing Lady Badgers possession Kristin Rogers failed to convert a pair of free throws and Carey made them pay. Kim Lewis pushed the rebound quickly up the floor and was fouled. Lewis stepped to line and made both free throws to put Carey up 62-60. On the final Spring Hill possession Carey's Kate Hubbard forced Hughes into a difficult shot which was off the mark. Hubbard secured the rebound and the  added two more free throws for the Lady Crusaders to secure the win.
     
Consuela Tucker led Carey with 21 points. Hope Swindle added 10 second half points for the Lady Crusaders.
     
With the win Carey improves to 12-9 overall and 9-3 in GCAC play.
     
The Lady Crusaders are back in action tomorrow as they take on Belhaven University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm at Clinton Gym.
