Hattiesburg, MS- No. 14 William Carey bounced back from last night's disappointing loss to take both games of the Saturday double header as they defeat No. 18 LSU-Shreveport 10-7 and 6-5 Saturday afternoon at Milton Wheeler.

The Crusaders persevered thru some rough pitching late in the game but did what it needed to come away with a 10-7 victory over the Pilots in game one of the double header.

The Crusaders fell behind 1-0 early but quickly answered with a four run second highlighted by Josh Dannelley's three run homerun.  Tyler McMullen would hold the Pilots scoreless for three innings until surrendering another run. In the sixth the Crusaders ran into some trouble as the Pilots plated five runs to even the game at 7. However Carey answered in bottom half of the sixth plating three runs to cap the scoring. Scotty Reese worked 1 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win.

Leading the way at the plate for the Crusaders was Jason Terrell going 2-4 with 2 RBI and a solo homerun. Josh Dannelley went 1-2 with 3 RBI and a 3 run homerun and Will Dannelley went 2-2 with two runs scored.

In game two of the double header the Pilots got on the board early with a solo homerun by Chase Wentz in the top of the 2nd and scored another run in the 3rd off of an RBI groundout by Kevin Smith.  In the bottom of the 4th inning the Crusaders would get on the board with an RBI single by Will Dannelley and would get two more runs in the inning to tie the game at three all. Garrett Braley would put the Crusaders up 4-3 with a RBI single in the bottom of the 5th inning.  In the top of the 7th inning the Pilots would threaten with the bases loaded and one out but relief pitcher Will Mann would squash the uprising by striking out the only two batters he faced.

Braley would come through again on a sacrifice fly to left that would score Ethan Burt to put the Crusaders up by a score of 5-3.  The Pilots however would not go quietly into the night as they would tie the game up in the top of the 9th on an RBI groundout by Kevin Smith and a wild pitch.

Just like game one the Crusaders were up to the challenge. WCU took full advantage of a Pilot error that extended the inning and Josh Dannelley would make them pay. His RBI single to left scored Shannon Steed to put the Crusaders up by a final of 6-5.  Reese pitched a scoreless inning in relief to pick up his second win of the day (2-0).  The Crusaders were led at the plate by Garrett Braley who went 1-4 with 2 RBI and Josh Dannelley who went 1-4 with 2 RBI.

With the win Carey improves to 4-2 on season and 4-2 in GCAC play. Carey is back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Alexandria, LA, to take on LSU-Alexandria.
