New Orleans, LA- William Carey outscored Dillard University 24-7 over the final eleven minutes of play as they improve to 7-3 in GCAC play with a 66-54 victory Thursday night at Dent Hall.
Senior forward Alisha Mason came out on fire for the Lady Crusaders hitting four of her first five shots to stake WCU to an early 10-3 lead. Carey maintained the advantage up until the final two minutes of the half as Dillard outscored Carey 11-4 to even the game at 38 all at intermission.
Both teams were stale to start the second half and the Lady Crusaders finally surrendered the lead with 11:36 to play. Out of a timeout, Britta Stephens connected on one of her five three point baskets to spark Carey to their decisive run.
Stephens led Carey with a game high 17 points. Kim Lewis finished with 16 points and Alisha Mason added 15 points. Hope Swindle pulled down a team high 8 rebounds.
Carey is back in action on Saturday as they host Spring Hill College. Tip-off is set for 5:00 pm at Clinton Gym
