Hattiesburg, MS- A dismal first half on both ends of the floor was too much for William Carey to overcome as they fall to No. 21 Tougaloo, 86-73 Thursday night at Clinton Gym.
Tougaloo came out on fire hitting 11 of their first 15 shots and led by as many as 18 points in the first half. The second half wasn't much better as the Bulldogs extended their lead to 23 points with 10:54 to play. The Crusaders had one good run in them and trimmed the lead to 75-66 with 3:36 to play but would get no closer.
Cory Smith led Carey and all scorers with 29 points. Brandon Cooks finished with 15 points. Chris Cyprian added 11 points.
Walter Howard led five Bulldogs in double figures with 25 points.
Carey is back in action on Saturday at Loyola-New Orleans. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm at the Den.
