Kansas City, MO- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2009 NAIA Women's Soccer All-America Teams, as selected by the NAIA Women's Soccer All-America Selection Committee. There are three teams in addition to an honorable mention list. Making the list from William Carey University are seniors Aimi Bereford and Jeana Erickson
Beresford, a native of Normanton, England, was named third team All-American. The GCAC Player of the Year netted 12 goals and recorded 12 assist on the season. This is Beresford second straight year to be named to the All-American team
Erickson, a native of Biloxi, MS, led the Lady Crusaders with 20 goals and 43 points on the season in earning honorable mention All-American honors. Erickson was also named GCAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Other hardware handed out this week to the Lady Crusaders was the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American awards. Beresford and Erickson were named third team NCSAA All-Americans while keeper Jackie DeNova was named honorable mention.
Shayna Turner, Barbra Jablanski, Angela Loose, and Jeana Erickson were named Daktronics NAIA scholar athletes. The four senior student-athlete have maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
Head Coach Danny Owens was also named the 2009 NSCAA/mondo NAIA Regional Coach of the Year. Owens' Lady Crusaders finished the 2009 season with a 20-2 record and ranked #3 in the final NAIA poll.
