Dallas, TX- No. 3 William Carey advanced to the championship game of the 2009 NAIA Unaffiliated Conference Tournament defeating Bellevue University (NE) 2-0 Wednesday afternoon.
Gemma Metcalfe opened the scoring with a header in the 20th minute off a sensational cross from GCAC Player of the Year Aimi Beresford to stake the Lady Crusaders to a 1-0 halftime lead.
Beresford then capped off the scoring with a goal of her own in the 55th minute as Carey cruised to victory.
The Lady Crusaders opponent in the championship game will be GCAC rival University of Mobile. The Lady Rams defeated Carroll College, 1-0. This will be third time the Lady Crusaders and Lady Rams have played in the last three weeks. Carey defeated Mobile 2-1 at Mobile on October 31st and 2-0 for the GCAC Championship on November 7th.
Kick-off is set for 12:00 pm on Friday November 13th.
