Hattiesburg, MS- The road to the 2009 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship for men and women's soccer will go through Crusader Field.
On Saturday the Carey men and women wrapped up GCAC play with perfect 4-0 marks to secure the top seed in the upcoming playoffs. The Carey men, who had clinched the top spot last week, defeated LSU-Shreveport 4-1 while the Carey women defeated Mobile 2-1.
For the women, the No. 4 Lady Crusaders will take on the winner of LSUS & Spring Hill on Thursday November 5th. Carey routed LSUS 6-0 in Shreveport back on October 24th.
Against Spring Hill, Carey needed double overtime to defeat the Lady Badgers 3-2. Shayna Turner netted the game winner in the 102nd minute of play. The Lady Crusaders are 15-1-1 on the season.
For the men, the No. 10 Crusaders will also take on the winner of LSUS & Spring Hill on Friday November 6th. Carey defeated both LSUS and Spring Hill by margins of 4-1. The Crusaders enter GCAC play with a 12-2-3 mark and winners of five straight.
