Hattiesburg, MS- #19 William Carey Lady Crusaders continued their outstanding play by routing Trevecca Nazarene University, 8-1 Tuesday afternoon at the WCU Soccer Complex.

I guess you could say the Lady Crusaders started slowly but once the ice was broken the goals flowed with alarming regularity. Natalia Nino scored the first goal for the Lady Crusaders in the 10th minute of play and the ladies were not done. Carey reeled off three more goal over the next seven minutes to open a 4-0 lead. After a Trevecca Nazarene goal in the 31st minute, Carey reeled off another dominating four goal stretch over the next 54 minutes to seal the deal.

Natalia Nino and Shayna Turner each netted two goals; Shannon Steffen, Linda Garcia, Courtney Brinson, and Karina Almendarez each notched goals in the rout. Abby Johnson and Shannon Steffen each added two assists.

Carey dominated every aspect of the game outshooting the visitors 35-10 on the evening.  "The girls played outstanding this evening.  We worked on some things over the week and you could see the girls were making great decisions on the ball.  We scored some quality goals and must have hit the post eight times or more.  This weekend was good for us to improve in some areas that we needed to and we were able to rest a few of our players and get them healthy for the last strectch of season.  We have not had all our starters on the field yet this entire season and I am looking forward to getting everyone on the field really playing at a high level," said Coach Owens.

With the win Carey improves to 7-2-1 on the season as they head into a key GCAC matchup with Belhaven College on October 18th in Jackson.
