Orange Beach, AL- Junior keeper Jackie DeNova recorded 17 saves and Natalia Nino netted the games lone goal as No.6 William Carey knocked off No.2 Azusa Pacific, 1-0 Friday afternoon in the Mobile Soccer Classic at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.

"Azusa is a great team and played a great game, but our girls worked tremendously hard during this game. It wasn't pretty and we knew going in that we were going to absorb some pressure but the girls stuck to the game plan and just refused to lose," said head coach Danny Owens.

The Lady Cougars controlled the shot total 23-3 however DeNova was up to the challenge stopping shot after shot. Carey made the most of its three shots with Nino knocking in the game winner in the 30th minute.

With the win Carey improves to 8-0 on the season. This is the 3rd top ten ranked opponent the Lady Crusaders have knocked off this season.

Carey is back in action tomorrow in a rematch of last seasons NAIA National Tournament opening round game against Oklahoma City. Carey defeated the Lady Stars 3-2 in double overtime.
