HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Junior Natalia Nino scored twice and assisted on another as No. 6 William Carey held off the Savannah College of Art and Design 3-2 in a women's soccer action at the SCAD Athletics Complex.

The Lady Crusaders improved to 7-0-0 while the Bees fell to 2-4-0.

Nino scored both of her goals - her sixth and seventh of the season - off rebounds. Nino followed her own shot that ricocheted off the crossbar and booted the ball into the right corner of the goal at the 9:27 mark.

William Carey, which took the first 10 shots of the match, took a 2-0 lead at the 26:04 mark. Shayna Turner's initial shot was knocked away by SCAD goalkeeper Stephanie Foster, who had seven saves, but Nino collected the loose ball and put it in the left corner for the score.

Melissa Feuerriegel got the Bees back into the game after she scored her second goal of the season with just under seven minutes remaining in the half.

William Carey added an insurance goal by Karina Almendarez at the 68:57
mark as Jeana Erickson threw the ball in to the box where Nino flicked it to Almendarez who was able to get it past Foster's outstretched hands for herfirst goal of the season.

SCAD was able to get a goal back when Amanda Barj scored with 5:17 remaining, but that would be as close as SCAD, who outshot William Carey 20-19, would get.  "What a great weekend this was for us.  We battled #8 Northwood to double OT and we were able to get the goal to win the game.  Then we turn around within 24 hours and beat a very good and rested SCAD team.  I thought we looked very good in the 1st half against SCAD and then I thought our legs gave way in the 2nd.  Playing a man down in the 2nd half didn't help matters, but the girls were tough enough to keep the lead and win.  To come away from this weekend with 2 wins is great, "said Coach Owens.

The Lady Crusaders are back in action next Friday as they take on No.3 Azusa Pacific in Mobile.
