Hattiesburg, Miss-#10 William Carey University improved to 2-0 on the season as they defeated Siena Heights, 2-1 in non-conference action Saturday night at Crusader Field.

Carey dominated play in the first half as they outshot the visitors, 11 to 6. Kaylee Zettler (SO/Meridian, Miss.) put WCU up,1-0 at the break with a goal in the 17th minute.

Carey had numerous chances to extend the lead early in the second half but failed to capitalize then SHU tied the game with a goal from Ashley Strong in the 73rd minute.

The advantage was short lived as WCU answered minutes later when Savanah Carter (JR/Ocean Springs, Miss.) drilled home a pass from Silvia Leonessi (SO/Esbjerg, Denmark) to put Carey back in front for good.

Carey outshot SHU 11 to 4 in the second half.

WCU is back in action on Labor Day as they travel to Mobile, Alabama, to take on Reinhardt College. Kick-off is set for 3 pm at the University of Mobile.
