MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the 2017 Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll and William Carey University was selected second, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Mobile (Ala.) took the top spot as they edged out William Carey (Miss.) and Martin Methodist (Tenn.). Last season WCU captured the SSAC Tournament title for the second time in four seasons.  

The Basics

  • The trio battled for the top spot in 2016, with Mobile and Martin Methodist finishing as Regular Season Co-Champions
  • William Carey (10), Mobile (13) and Martin Methodist (14) all advanced to the final site of the 2016 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship and finished in the top-15 in the final NAIA poll
  • The three teams combined for 23 all-conference selections last season

2017 SSAC Championship

The quarterfinals of the 2017 SSAC Championship will take place Nov. 3-4 at the home of the higher seed, while the semifinals (Nov. 8) and finals (Nov. 10) will take place at Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Ala.
