MONTGOMERY, Ala. – William Carey (Miss.) was picked to repeat as Southern States Athletic Conference champions in the 2017 SSAC Men's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll, the conference announced Monday.

The Crusaders held a comfortable 15-point lead over second-place Dalton State (Ga.), with Mobile (Ala.), Bethel (Tenn.), Faulkner (Ala.) and Martin Methodist (Tenn.) rounding out the top-five.

The Basics

  • The Crusaders claimed all eight first-place votes after sweeping the 2016 SSAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships

  • Dalton State, Martin Methodist and Mobile all received at least one second-place vote

  • William Carey returns 2016 Golden Gloves winner Grant Adam (SR/Waveland, Miss.), Player of the Year Matt Redgrave (SR/England) and fellow first-team All-Conference selection Joaquin Ruiz Cabello (JR/Malaga, Spain)

2017 SSAC Championship

The semifinals of the 2017 SSAC Championship will take place Nov. 3-4 at the home of the higher seed, while the quarterfinals (Nov. 8) and finals (Nov. 10) will take place at Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Ala.
