Hattiesburg, Miss.- No. 3 seed William Carey (Miss.) rallied with two runs in the ninth and then added two more in the tenth inning as they defeated No. 1 Southeastern (Fla.), 6-4 to force a winner take all game for a spot in the 2017 Avista – NAIA World Series.

The winner take all championship game is set for tomorrow at 11 am at Milton Wheeler Field.

Trailing the Fire, 2-0 going into the top of the seventh inning Tyler Graves (SR/Petal, Miss.) put WCU on the board for the first time with a RBI double that scored Wes Brown (JR/Denham Springs, La.) to cut the lead to 2-1. In the eighth inning, Brown struck again for Carey as he ripped a two out double, advanced to third on a wild pitch, then raced home on a passed ball to tie the game at 2. The lead was short lived as Angel Garced belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to move the Fire back in front, 4-2.

Down to their final three outs Carey dug deep yet again. James Land (SR/Gulfport, Miss.)'s RBI double cut the lead to 4-3, then Tyler Odom (SR/Hattiesburg, Miss.) raced home on a wild pitch later in the inning to tie the game a four.

After a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth by Lane Fazende (SR/Picayune, Miss.), Christian Smith (JR/Carriere, Miss.) gave WCU their first lead of the day with a two run single to score Wes Brown and Tyler James (JR/Slidell, La.).

The Fire threatened in the bottom of the inning but the Fazende got Gerald Ceballos to ground into a 4-6-3 double play to end the game.
