Hattiesburg, Miss. - Texas Wesleyan fought off elimination yet again as they defeated Lyon (Ark.), 9-1 in day two action of the Hattiesburg Bracket  in the 2017 NAIA Baseball National Tournament Opening Round.


The Rams jumped all over the Scots in the second inning as they pounded out five hits and scored six runs, capped by Kiki Menedez two-run home run.

Texas Wesleyan added runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning for the final margin. The Rams finished with thirteen hits with five players having two hits each.

Alex Davis picked up the win in relief allowing one hit in 3 1/3 innings of work.

Lyon (Ark.) season comes to end with a record of 35-24.

Texas Wesleyan will take on No. 3 seed William Carey tomorrow in an elimination game at 10 am.
