Blue Mountain, Miss.- #7 William Carey University softball put together another solid weekend as they posted a 3-1 record during their four game road trip to Bethel and Blue Mountain College this weekend.

William Carey surrendered just two hits on the day as they swept Bethel University in SSAC action on Friday afternoon.
In game one, Rachel Hickman (SR/Poplarville, Miss.) fired a no hitter as Carey trounced Bethel, 8-0 in five innings.
WCU scored two runs each in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings. Kamryn Theriot (SR/Plaquemine, La.) led Carey at the plate going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's
In game two, Hannah Moak (JR/Ruth, Miss.) scattered two hits as Carey cruised to a 6-1 win.
Leading 3-1 in the fifth inning, WCU put the game away for good with back –to – back RBI doubles by Kimberly Gilbert (JR/Saucier, Miss.) and Kaitlyn Thompson (SO/Denham Springs, La.) in a three-run inning. Rebecca Monceaux (SR/Lake Charles, La.) homered while Gilbert and Thompson each collected two hits to lead WCU at the plate.

Carey failed to deliver the runs in game one but took care of business offensively in game two as they split their SSAC doubleheader with Blue Mountain College on Saturday afternoon.
In game one, WCU stranded 15 runners and committed two costly errors as they fell to Blue Mountain, 4-3.
The Lady Toppers struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but WCU answered back with a RBI single by Branda Northrop (JR/Poplarville, Miss.) in the second inning and then moved in front with a bases load walk in the third inning. Carey next pushed the lead to 3-1 on Macy Monk (SO/Denham Springs, La.)'s RBI single in the fifth inning and then WCU ran into trouble.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, two Topper hits combined with two Carey errors led to three runs for the home team. WCU had their chances in the final two innings but left the bases loaded each inning.
Carey bounced back in game two as Kimberly Gilbert belted two home runs, as William Carey secured the split with an 11-2 win.
Trailing 1-0 in the third inning, Gilbert put Carey in front with a two-run home run in the third inning. Blue Mountain tied the game at two with a run in the fifth inning then Gilbert struck again as she led off the sixth inning with a solo home run to ignite the Carey offense and put WCU up for good. Carey would score three runs in the sixth and then they finished off the Toppers with six runs in the seventh inning.
WCU is back in action on the road Tuesday as they take on the University of Mobile in SSAC action.
