Hattiesburg, MS- Senior Shannon Steffen's two goals helped #19 William Carey win their fifth straight game and second straight GCAC contest as they knocked off LSU-Shreveport, 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the WCU Soccer Complex.
Steffen opened the scoring in the 10th minute as she headed home a well executed corner kick from Natalia Nino. Steffen's notched her second goal in the 21st as she beat the keeper in a one on one situation.
Carey might have blown things wide open but LSUS Amber Salvucci recorded five first half saves to keep the Lady Pilots alive.
The Lady Crusaders avoided the second half let down and continued their excellent play and in 67th minute Linda Garcia capped off the scoring blasting home a penalty kick.
Jordan Morrison recorded four saves as she worked her first collegiate shut out.
The Lady Crusaders return to action on Saturday October 11th as they take on Thomas University. Kick off is set for 1:00 pm at the WCU Soccer Complex.
