Hattiesburg, Miss.-(Bracket | Tournament Website )  Scott Fabre belted a two run home run and Cade Leblanc allowed just one hit in three inning of relief as William Carey University defeated Oklahoma Baptist, 7-3 in game two of the 2013 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round at Milton Wheeler Field.

WCU got on the board in the second inning as Tre Keyes drove in Jeremy Ferguson with an RBI single and LeBlanc later scored on an error as the Crusaders opened a 2-0 lead. In the fourth Carey added to the lead on a two out RBI double by Sean Hodges and in the fifth the Crusaders increased the lead to 5-0 on a Ferguson sacrifice fly and Clint Ambrosch RBI single.

The Bison answered in the sixth with four hits including RBI singles from Mason Ankeney and Matt Page to trim the lead to 5-3. In the bottom of the frame WCU struck again as Scott Fabre belted a two run home run to extend the WCU lead to 7-3.

In the top of the seventh it looked as if the Bison would answer back but Cade LeBlanc came on in relief and worked out of a bases loaded jam to end the threat. LeBlanc then worked a quick 8th and 9th to earn the save for WCU.

Jake Fabre picked up the win for WCU to improve to 9-5 on the season. Sean Hodges, Scott Fabre, and Vito Perna each had two hits for WCU.

Julian Merryweather took the loss for OBU allowing five runs over 4 2/3 innings of work. Yael Colon and Garret Roberts each collected two hits for the Bison.

The Crusaders return to action tomorrow at 3:30 pm as they take on the winner of Northwood (TX)/ SC-Beaufort. Oklahoma Baptist will take on Central Methodist in elimination at noon.
