New Orleans, LA- Slow starts to each half proved extremely costly as William Carey fell to Loyola University 72-60 in SSAC action at the Den.
          
Carey got off to a horrendous start as they scored just six points over the first ten minutes as Loyola opened a 19-6 lead. Carey rallied and trimmed the lead to six however Loyola scored the last four points of the half to open a 31-21 lead at the break. 
 
The second half started just like the first half as the Wolfpack opened with a 16-6 run to open a 47-27 lead.  Trailing 51-31 with 10:40 to play Carey put together a 21-10 run to cut the lead to 61-52 but could get no closer.
 
Jamal Doss led WCU with 14 points. Donzedrick Smith and Rod Little each added 13 points.
Corey Gray led all scorers with 26 points.
 
WCU returns to action on Friday as they take on Union University in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm at Clinton Gym.
