Kansas City Mo - After picking up his first team All-American award at the National Soccer Coaches Association convention in Kansas City this past weekend, senior goalkeeper Carl Goody was soon making arrangements to fly out to Washington D.C. for a trial period with D.C. United of Major League Soccer.
United's goalkeeper coach Pat Onstad had contacted Carey head coach Nigel Boulton about Goody after admiring his performances in the NAIA National Championship run to the final four. "He liked what he saw of Carl and was interested in getting my opinion and also learning about Carl's plans after graduation. I told him he was extremely keen to play professional soccer and would certainly be the kind of player with the potential to do just that".
Onstad, who had a distinguished pro career as a goalkeeper in the MLS before turning to coaching, arranged for Goody to fly out on Monday (16th) to join up with the United team for pre-season training.
