Montgomery, AL- William Carey scored just 13 points in the first half and committed 21 turnovers as they fell to Faulkner University, 60-50.
With the loss WCU falls to 7-10 and 4-4 in SSAC play. Faulkner improves to 8-9 and 1-6 in SSAC play.
The Crusaders struggled mightily in the first half making just six field goals as the fell behind 20-13 at the break. Falkner stretched the lead to 33-23 before Carey put together its most significant run of the game to close the gap to 33-31 with 10:26 to play.
The Eagles stretched the lead to 46-38 before WCU put together one last run as PJ McCray hit back to back three point baskets to cut the Eagle lead to 46-44. That would be as close as the Crusaders would get as the Eagles answered with a 14-6 run to close out the game.
Rod Little led WCU with 15 points.
WCU returns to action on Thursday as they travel to Rugg Arena to take on Belhaven University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm in Jackson, MS.
